This is post worthy! Well..I had 4 hours off, actually. Really, I am very busy with school and work and searching for an apartment in Amsterdam for my internship.
This is quite big. I knew Maroon 5 was going to play in the HMH in Amsterdam the 28th of Februari long before this all and I never bought any tickets. Stupid, I know, because I love them since before they even became Maroon 5. So last weekend I was working and was listening to Radio 538 and they got a Maroon 5-win-tickets-weekend. So I called and..there.. I won two tickets plus the latest album ‘Hands All Over’. (Thank you, guys!)
So Monday night was the night. Unfortunately I had a bad night before without any sleep, but I couldn’t let this concert to just go like that. So I went with Rabia. We got to eat something at Van Dam, went on a light shopping spree..although I didn’t get to buy anything. We got in Amsterdam late in the afternoon. I guessed Adam (Levine) was getting another tattoo right that second and later that night I found out on Twitter I was right. It had been almost 4 years since the last time I saw them, so you can imagine that I was really looking forward to it!
So we got a salad on our way to the HMH in the subway and when we got there, there were already a lot of girls and guys(!). There were even many older couples..I’m talking about the age of 50.
I got our tickets at the 538 stand and got a seat, because we were both not feeling well. Normally I would be on the field, as I did in 2007.
The concert started at 8 o’clock precisely, starting with Sara Bareilles. She sang wonderfully and sounds amazing live. She sang her hits and did a cover of ‘Yellow’ by Coldplay and ‘Fuck You’ be Cee Lo Green. She filled 45 minutes of great music and then at 21.10u Maroon 5 came on stage and started with Misery from their new album. I’ll get you the setlist later on!
I found out they had another member while on tour, PJ Morton and I was so thrilled to just sing along with all the songs and see them rock there guitars, keys and drums.
Adam covered’ Let’s Stay Together’ (Al Green) and ‘What’s Love Got To Do’ (Tina Turner). They got the audience to sing with the oldies from Songs About Jane. I always have loved their live guitar duals and last night was a blast.
They got an encore with ‘Makes Me Wonder’ and finishing with ‘Sunday Morning’.
To be honest, it went quite fast, not too many interactions but enough (to ‘shut up’ as I heard people sang with Stutter), but there was one about the girls screaming so high and the guys being vocal on a very low level and Adam said that the girls screaming that high was stupid haha.
I wasn’t too keen about the way ‘She Will Be Loved’ was performed, but hey, I understand with knowing they have to do that particular song every single concert. I loved Adam told us the concert was being recorded, so I am really hoping for a special Maroon 5 Amsterdam edition to get on my iPod.
I wanted to hear ‘Hands All Over’ and ‘Sweetest Goodbye’ live as the last song wasn’t the encore in 2007, but they didn’t do any of them.
I needed some of Adam Levine’s Dutch!
Other than that, I’m just spoiled and they were absolutely amazing plus congrats to Adam for getting to be a coach on NBC’s ‘The Voice’!!
XO M
P.S. I’ll post some pics and the setlist later on!
Something extra: Sara Bareilles just got her music video of ‘Uncharted’ online with a lot of cameos! http://vids.perezhilton.com/plugins/player.swf?v=3a87b542564c3&p=vega4-without-ads-transparent-flp&autoplay=true
